Smoking with charcoal:

Place the charcoal into the incense burner and allow the charcoal to burn until it starts to smoulder and become hot.  On the hot coal then the incense is placed in appropriate quantity.  As the censer gets very hot, we recommend placing on a heat proof surface or hanging from the chain.

Note: You should always be very careful and let the coal cool down for about 2-3 hours before throwing it in the trash.  The charcoal and incense combined create a lot of smoke, be sure to use in a well ventilated area.
